B-Band UST 29R 1/8" (2.9mm) replacement undersaddle pickup for B-Band preamps. Pickup only, does not include preamp or endpin jack. Requires B-Band preamp, will not work with other preamps.
Installation Guide
What's in the Box
- UST 29R undersaddle transducer strip (2.9 mm wide)
Not included: preamp, endpin jack, or any hardware. A compatible B-Band preamp system is required before installation.
Tools You'll Need
- Ruler or digital calipers (to confirm saddle slot width)
- Soft cloth or protective pad (to protect the guitar finish)
- Small flat-head screwdriver or saddle-removal tool
Before You Begin
Confirm that your saddle slot is approximately 1/8" (3.2 mm) wide. The UST 29R transducer element is 2.9 mm wide and is designed specifically for this slot dimension. If your saddle slot is narrower or wider, this pickup will not seat properly and you should contact B-Band or your dealer to identify the correct UST model. Also confirm you already have a B-Band preamp system installed — this pickup is a replacement transducer only and will not function with any other brand's preamp.
Saddle Routing Note
⚠️ Hypothesis — confirm with B-Band documentation before proceeding: Some installations may require a small channel routed through the underside of the saddle or along the saddle slot floor to route the pickup's lead wire to the preamp. If your existing B-Band installation already has this channel, no additional routing is needed. If not, consult a qualified luthier or guitar technician before modifying the saddle slot.
Installation Steps
- Loosen the strings and remove the saddle from the bridge slot.
- Disconnect the old transducer from your B-Band preamp (note how the connector is oriented).
- Lay the UST 29R strip in the saddle slot, element-side up, centered along the slot.
- Route the lead wire carefully through the existing channel toward the preamp input.
- Re-seat the saddle on top of the transducer strip, pressing it gently into the slot.
- Reconnect the lead wire to your B-Band preamp connector.
- Re-tune the strings and test the output signal.
When to Seek Professional Help
- Your saddle slot needs routing or reshaping
- The saddle does not fit evenly after the pickup is placed
- The lead wire does not reach the preamp connector
- You are uncomfortable removing or modifying any part of the instrument
A qualified luthier or guitar repair technician can complete this installation quickly and ensure correct string action and intonation are maintained.
Preamp Requirements
This pickup is exclusively compatible with B-Band preamp systems. It will not function with preamps from other manufacturers. If you do not have a B-Band preamp already installed, you will need to purchase and install a compatible B-Band preamp system separately before this replacement transducer will be usable.
